Get out, enjoy the festivities, and have an amazing St. Patrick’s Day! The Rathdowney St. Patrick's Day parade is taking place on Sunday March 16, rather than on St. Patrick's Day itself. The parade starts at 2pm, with family fun, live music and entertainment from 11am until 2pm at The Square. The Square, Rathdowney will be closed for parking from 6pm Saturday March 15 until 4pm Sunday March 16. Rounding off the SVT parish, Stradbally parade starts at 11am on the Rathmore Road to parade to 11.30am Mass. Spink Organised by Spink GAA, the parade is after St Patrick's Day 9.30am Mass from the church grounds. It marches along the main road to the community hall for music and refreshments. All local groups are welcome to join. 2025 marks the long-awaited return of the Mountmellick parade which has been shelved since 2022 and will make up part of the Boglands Festival..
