The St. Joseph Saint Patrick’s Day Parade born in 1867 and later reborn in 1986 to provide the people of Saint Joseph and the surrounding area an opportunity to celebrate their Irish heritage. In 1997, to keep the original idea of the Parade alive, the Ancient Order of Hibernians began their organization of the Parade and with the help of the A group of friends meeting at Hogerty’s Cocktail Lounge in 1973 felt that Kansas City needed a St. Patrick’s Day Parade to better commemorate the area’s Irish heritage. Fast forward about a half century and the Kansas City St. Patrick’s Day Parade is the largest Irish celebration in the area.
