Founded in 1971, the St. Patrick Parade of Jefferson has been taking to the streets of Old Metairie for over fifty years in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. We proudly present a parade of over 100 floats, trucks, bands, marching clubs and all the throws you can get your hands on. Old Metairie Irish Festival – This event takes place on the Friday before the St Patrick Day Parade. This fun-filled, family friendly event is hosted by Gennaro’s Bar and takes place on Metairie Road under the Causeway overpass. The St. Patrick’s Day Classic will begin at 8:30 a.m. outside Gennaro’s Bar on Metairie Road at N. Causeway Boulevard on Sunday, March 16. The 2-mile course will proceed down the parade route on Metairie Road finishing at Frisco Avenue, just before the train tracks and Winston’s Pub & Patio, where the post-race party will take place. Road Closures. All parade participants will enter at Schuylkill Avenue and John F. Kennedy Boulevard and assemble from 20 th Street to 16 th Street along John F. Kennedy Boulevard beginning at 9 a.m. The annual Metairie Road St. Patrick's Day parade will take place at noon in front of Rummel High School on Severn Avenue, goes down Severn to Metairie Road, then Metairie Road to the parish line. We are pleased to have the Krewe of Argus join our 2025 parade starting at 10:00 am on parade day with approximately 20 floats and 5-10 marching bands.
