The festival was started by a group of passionate Irish expats in 1995 in order to celebrate St Patrick’s Day and New Zealand’s rich Irish connections. The festival has evolved over the past couple two decades and now encompasses a broad range of cultural, sport and entertainment events including a parade and Irish music and dance.
