While the annual parade takes place in Downtown, Post Houston will transform their venue into a friendly-family festival with games, food, Irish performances, an outdoor market, a live band, a scavenger hunt, and more. The two-hour parade presented by the Houston St. Patrick's Parade Commission has historically been one of the largest in the United States and features an awards presentation and after-party in Market Square following the main event. The Houston St. Patrick’s Day Parade is deeply rooted in the city's history, dating back to the 1880s, when early parades were held in “Irish Town”, a neighborhood near St. Patrick’s Church on Harrisburg Boulevard. People would come from near and far to enjoy the FM 1960 St. Patricks Day Parade; however, it’s been cancelled every year since 2021.
