Parade Schedule. Our annual St. Patrick’s Day Parades are considered another opportunity for family and friends to get together and enjoy a day outdoors. It seems as if the entire city is on the street with picnic baskets, umbrellas, and their recreational vehicles – enjoying one of the biggest street parties of the year! (Staff photo by Scott Threlkeld, The Times-Picayune) About the Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Parade The parade begins on the corner of Felicity and Magazine streets around 1:00 PM (or a little earlier, depending on when mass ends). Floats, marching bands, and revelers dressed in green parade up Jackson Avenue, turning onto St. Charles Avenue, Louisiana Avenue, and back onto Magazine Street. The route is subject to change. Watch out for Participants in the St Patrick’s Day New Orleans Parade, often donned in tuxedos, engage by offering paper flowers in exchange for kisses, adding a quaint and endearing element to the celebrations. Spectators are encouraged to don green attire, embracing the festive sartorial spirit, under the whimsical threat of a playful pinch if they forget. Zoom out: Covington also rescheduled its St. Patrick's Day parade, as did Krewe du Pooch in Mandeville. Both will roll on Sunday now. The Metairie Road St. Patrick's parade will roll at noon Sunday too. The Krewe of Argus parade, which was canceled due to bad weather on Mardi Gras Day, will roll at 10am Sunday ahead of the Old Metairie parade. St. Patrick’s Day Parades In New Orleans. The Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day block party is Thursday at Annunciation Playground from 10am to 6pm, and the parade Saturday. It rolls at 1pm. The Italian American St. Joseph's Day parade rolls in the CBD and French Quarter at 6pm on Saturday. Metairie's St. Patrick's Day parade rolls at noon Sunday. Sat, March 15 Irish Channel Parade Parasol's Block Party 10am - 8pm Sun, March 16 St. Patrick's Day Parade on Metairie Rd. - 12pm The parade follows Noon Mass at St. Mary’s Assumption Church and is returning to a previous route following the completion of road construction on Louisiana Ave. The parade marches from Felicity and Magazine St. and ends at Jackson Ave and Magazine St. The St. Bernard Irish Italian Islenos Community Parade is one of the largest events in nearby St. Bernard parish. The parade starts at 12noon along the W. Judge Perez route in Chalmette – from Meraux Dr. down to Ventura and back! The annual block party celebration is on the Irish Channel – 3226 Magazine St. There will be lots of green beer, corned beef, cabbage, and more fun.
