However, in early March 1968, American forces began a series of counterattacks that eventually drove the North Vietnamese back. Eventually, American forces claimed Khe Sanh. The group spent some time in Hue and on a rainy day in July, they loaded into a van and drove to the former combat base at Khe Sanh.
