The day's events include a mass at Most Holy Trinity Church, the Detroit St. Patrick's Parade, and the Taste of Corktown. The parade is expected to draw between 80,000 and 100,000 people. In 1973 Sister Mary Watson opened the doors of St. Patrick Senior Center to seven elderly residents of Detroit's Cass Corridor neighborhood and served a home-cooked, healthy meal. In 1983, St. Patrick Senior Center was incorporated as a non-denominational, non-profit organization for elders, aged 60 and over. It may be located inside the American Polish Century Club, but the annual St. Patrick and St. Joseph's Day event is an evening celebrating all things Irish with traditional dancers, food, beer and The Brief.
