The St. Paddy’s Day Parade in Cleveland dates back to 1867, and is one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day parades in the United States, bringing upwards of a half million people downtown each year. The Parade staging area and Parade route is exclusively reserved for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. Any event, including tailgating, that disrupts the staging of the Parade is not permitted. Pets/animals are not allowed in the Parade unless an organization is specifically signed up as an animal unit. The United Irish Societies of Greater Cleveland is a non-profit organization consisting of representatives from 28 Irish Organizations whose primary purpose is to organize the Cleveland's St. Patrick's Day Parade. Cleveland's Parade is Ohio's oldest and finest comprising approximately 10,000 participants in 125 units.
