St. Patrick's College, Thurles was founded in 1837. The College is a charitable institution operating under the patronage of the Dr. Patrick Everard, Archbishop of Cashel and Emly. Dr. Everard died in 1821 and left £10,000 for the purpose of founding a college to provide a liberal education of catholic youth destined for the priesthood and professional/business careers. Mary Immaculate College (MIC), founded in 1898, is a University-level College of Education and the Liberal Arts, academically linked with the University of Limerick. The College is a multi-campus institution, with a student population of over 5,000 students enrolled in undergraduate programmes in Drama and English, English Language and Literature, Psychology, Primary and Post-Primary Teaching, An Irish Summer Camp, ‘Bí Réidh’ (Translation ‘Be Ready’) will be held this summer here in St. Patrick’s College in Thurles. Two weekly camps will run from 28th July – 1st August and from 11th August – 15th August. These camps will be non residential and will run from 9.00am to 6.00pm each day. The Thurles Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Monday 17th March 2025, and will leave from Abbey Road at 2:15pm sharp. The main sponsors of the parade are Tipperary County Council, the Thurles Chamber of Commerce and as in previous years local Businesses. The Thurles St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee are once again seeking your 1st Prize for Overall Winner — €1,000 plus Thurles St. Patrick’s Day Parade Trophy. 2nd Prize for Best Large Entry — €500 and a Trophy. 3rd Prize for Best Band Entry — €250 and a trophy. 4th Prize for Best School Entry — €250 and a trophy. There will also be 12 Prizes and 600 medals, plus vouchers and trophies for further entries. Our College Open Day will be held on Tuesday, 27 May from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
