Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade (providencestpatricksparade.org) steps off at noon on March 8, from the intersection of Smith Street and Hilltop Avenue, proceeding down Smith Street to the 239 Providence Street West Warwick. 6-8pm 21+ Free. On St. Patrick’s Day check out Alex Medieros perform at Boomerangs. The Warwick native recently released a few singles with “Inside Of My Heart”, “You and Me” and “I’ve Left, I’ve Returned” so expect to hear them performed live along with an assortment of covers. The race starts at the Rhode Island State House at 11 a.m. and ends with a post-race party at Patrick's Pub on Smith St. just in time for the Providence St. Patrick's Day Parade! Even the Providence Bruins are getting in on the Irish fun. The parade starts at Smith Street at Wyndham and continues down Smith to the State House. I am not a big fan of parades, but I was glad I went to this last year. It featured marching bands with pipes and drums, Irish dancers, the Providence Mounted While the Irish in Newport began parading on St. Patrick’s Day through the streets of that town as early as 1842, it was not until 1852 that the Ancient Order of Hibernians Sick and Burial Society, which had been organized in 1849, held its first public parade in Providence on St. Patrick’s Day. (3.18) The Providence St. Patrick's Day Parade will take place Saturday, March 18th. The parade kicks off on Smith Street at Wyndham Avenue and continues down Smith, ending at the Statehouse. And by Statehouse, we mean Patrick's Pub. Jim is currently board chairman for the Occupational and Environmental Health Center of Rhode Island, which created the “Fix Our Schools Now” coalition. He is a member of the Rhode Island Labor History Society and a member of the Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee where he serves as the event’s “Official Voice”.
