With Ireland’s national holiday right around the corner, organisers of the Shannon parade have claimed the local authority funds the Ennis parade due to a longstanding legacy, while no other parades in the county FAMED MUSICIAN and Ruan native Sharon Shannon is the Grand Marshal for the St Patrick’s Day parade in Galway City. A national treasure hailing from Co Clare, Sharon was chosen by Mayor of Galway City, Cllr Peter Keane (FF) to be the Grand Marshal. “Yeah, pretty much,” agreed Craig Clare when he heard he and his wife Wendy had been chosen as grand marshals of Bayport-Blue Point’s 2025 St. Patrick’s Day Parade. “My wife cried; me, too. We were speechless. They verbalized we were chosen because there was a diverse and wide array of community activities we were engulfed in.”
